PRIMARY SUNDAY SUGGESTIONS
APRIL 26, 2020
FROM MISTY JOHNSON
Hello little friends!
We hope that you have had a good week and that you are ready for a relaxing and uplifting Sabbath day. Please read the email below as well as watching the video of Sister Johnson that can be found here.
Three important things to highlight in this week’s Come Follow Me lesson from Mosiah chapters 4-6:
1. Why is repentance important?
2. What does it mean to take the name of Jesus upon us? and
3. How and why should we help and serve the poor?
REPENTANCE
Watch this video about how a broken window led a brother and sister to repent.
Do you think their mom might have already known about the broken window? Did you notice that she waited until they were ready to tell her about what they did? And the first things she said to them were that she loved them and that she forgave them. They felt better after they had repented.
Repentance is a little like washing our hands well and keeping them clean. When we wash our hands well, we keep ourselves and others safe from dirt and sickness. When we keep them clean, we are able to be of more help to others.
Read Mosiah 4:1–3 and 10.
TAKING UPON US JESUS’ NAME
Watch https://youtu.be/mh6KSvhVY14
Using these name tags from the manual, how would your thoughts, words, and actions change if you were to wear this name tag? When we are baptized, we make a promise to act as an example of how Jesus would act. Jesus wants us to show love and kindness to others. Read Mosiah 4:12.
Good songs to go with this idea are:
“The Church of Jesus Christ” (CS #77)
“Jesus Said Love Everyone” (CS #61)
HELPING AND SERVING THE POOR
Read Mosiah 4:26.
We are all brothers and sisters and children of God. Heavenly Father has blessed us with so much and wants us to share our blessings with others. We can share our food, clothing, money, and other things with those that don’t have enough. One way that we can show our gratitude and love for our Heavenly Father is by treating others kindly and by helping His children who are struggling. Think of one way that you can share what you have with someone who needs help.
This video is a touching example of how we can help uplift others in their time of need and how the church has plans in place to help do the Lord’s work.
Sing “Because I Have Been Given Much” (Hymn #219)
Have a wonderful week! We love you!
Take care,
